Bunzl Innov8 Publication

Project Overview:

For this project, I was commissioned to develop a digital-first publication designed to spotlight innovative cleaning and hygiene products released in the first half of the year. The publication was created with the flexibility to also be printed on sustainable, recycled materials, ensuring alignment with eco-friendly practices. The goal was to not only provide a detailed and engaging showcase of cutting-edge products but also to integrate the Bunzl brand seamlessly throughout, maintaining consistency with their corporate identity.

Design Process:

Research & Content Planning:

I conducted in-depth research into the latest cleaning and hygiene products, identifying key innovations and trends for the period. This included working with well-known brands, ensuring their products were showcased effectively.

Close collaboration with Bunzl ensured their corporate voice, mission, and aesthetic were consistently integrated into the design.

Objectives:

Highlight innovation:

Feature cleaning and hygiene products that stand out for their innovative features, whether through design, function, or sustainability.

Digital-First Focus:

The publication was designed primarily for digital platforms, optimized for easy navigation, with responsive layouts that adapt to both desktop and mobile devices.

Interactivity was incorporated, including clickable links to product pages, animations, and embedded videos to showcase products in action.

Brand integration:

Ensure Bunzl’s branding was well-represented without overshadowing the featured brands.e

Brand Consistency:

Maintaining a balance between Bunzl’s branding and the individual product brands was a priority. I designed a flexible layout where Bunzl’s branding was present but subtle, giving focus to the featured products.

Outcome:

The digital-first publication was launched successfully, garnering positive feedback for its seamless interactivity and eco-friendly print option.

Bunzl now has an efficient, reusable design template for bi-annual updates, reducing the time and resources required to produce future issues.

The inclusion of multiple well-known brands within a Bunzl-branded publication reinforced Bunzl’s leadership in the cleaning and hygiene space, while also enhancing partnerships with these key brands.

Sustainable Print Design:

The layout was crafted to translate smoothly into a printed format, where the design was optimized for eco-friendly, recycled materials without compromising on the quality or appearance.

Careful selection of typography and colour palettes ensured that print production on recycled paper retained a high-quality feel, while minimizing ink usage.

Sustainability:

Create a print-friendly version of the publication that could be produced using sustainable, recycled materials to reflect the values of the company.

Efficiency:

Develop a reusable template that allows the publication to be refreshed bi-annually, saving time and resources in future ed

Challenges & Solutions:

Sustainability Focus:

Choosing materials and printing techniques that align with sustainability goals was essential. I collaborated with print vendors to ensure that recycled materials were used without sacrificing print quality, creating a publication that reflected both innovation and environmental responsibility.

Reusable Template:

To improve efficiency, I developed a modular, easy-to-update template. This allows Bunzl to produce a new edition every six months by simply swapping out product information, images, and updated brand details without the need to redesign from scratch.

This template-based approach ensures brand consistency, reduces design costs, and saves time for the client.

Final Thoughts:

This project demonstrated the successful integration of sustainability, innovation, and brand consistency, while ensuring long-term efficiency for future publications. The flexible design ensures that Bunzl can continue to spotlight the latest cleaning and hygiene products with minimal effort and maximum impact.
